Welcome to Rezume. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we handle your information when you use our ATS resume analyzer tool, including both the web application and browser extension.

2. What Data We Collect

2.1 Contact Information (Name & Email Only)

When you upload your resume or log in to our service, we automatically extract and store:

• Your Name - As it appears on your resume
• Your Email Address - As it appears on your resume

This information is stored for the sole purpose of reaching out to gather feedback on how you're using Rezume and to improve our product.

2.2 Resume Content (NOT Stored)

2.3 Usage Data

We track minimal usage information to improve our service:

• Login timestamps (first seen, last seen)
• Login count per user
• No IP addresses, device information, or browsing behavior

3. How We Use Your Data

3.1 Feedback and Product Improvement

Your contact information (name and email) may be used to:

• Send surveys or feedback requests about your experience with Rezume
• Conduct user research interviews
• Notify you of major product updates (infrequent)

3.2 Resume Analysis

Your resume content is processed solely to provide you with:

• ATS keyword analysis
• Experience level detection
• Resume structure recommendations
• Tech stack analysis
• Resume enhancement suggestions

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Where Your Data is Stored

• Contact Info: Stored in a local JSON file (users.json) on our server
• Resume PDFs: NOT stored anywhere (processed in-memory only)
• Browser Extension: Your resume is stored locally in your browser's local storage, never sent to our servers except when you explicitly click "Match" or "Tailor Resume"

4.2 Security Measures

• All communication with our server uses HTTPS encryption
• Contact data is stored locally on secure servers (not in cloud databases)
• Resume files are never logged, cached, or persisted to disk
• No third-party analytics or tracking scripts

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do NOT share, sell, or rent your personal data to any third parties. Period.

• No advertising networks
• No data brokers
• No marketing partners

The only exception: If you use the "Enhance Resume" feature, your resume content may be sent to OpenAI's API for AI-powered improvements. OpenAI's data usage policy applies in this case. We recommend reviewing their privacy policy if you use this feature.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your stored contact information
• Deletion: Request removal of your contact info from our records
• Correction: Update your name or email if it was extracted incorrectly
• Opt-out: Unsubscribe from any feedback requests or communications

7. Browser Extension Specifics

When using the Rezume browser extension:

• Your resume PDF is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB/LocalStorage
• Job descriptions are extracted from the current page you're viewing
• Your resume is only sent to our server when you click "Match" or "Tailor Resume"
• The extension requires permission to read page content (to detect job descriptions)
• No background tracking or monitoring of your browsing activity

8. Cookies and Local Storage

We use minimal browser storage:

• JWT Token: Stored in localStorage for authentication (contains your name and email)
• Browser Extension: Resume PDF and analysis history stored locally in your browser
• No third-party cookies or tracking pixels

9. Children's Privacy

Rezume is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of Rezume after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
